A native of Cripple Creek, Colorado, Michael Slancik has been a full time artist for nearly four decades. Leading a remarkable life, besides his art, Michael has been a working cowboy, trapper, and professional big game hunter, having traveled to many remote locations from Alaska to Africa, all adding to inspiration for his incredible works of art.

Michael has trained under some of the worlds top sculptures and painters, even spending time studying art in Florence, Italy, initially starting out as a sculptor, creating Bronzes that are found all over the world. The only sculpture ever commissioned by Sam Walton of Walmart, to create a monumental bronze for their store in Woodland Park, CO.

 

Michaels creative passion led him to start painting in oil, which has begun a whole new chapter in this artists life.

Whether it's western, wildlife, or portraiture, Slancik paintings have become increasingly popular, especially his Giclee prints, since his originals are very hard to come by.

Michael also does commissioned art. Whether it be a bronze sculpture or oil paintings. Michael and his beautiful wife Eva, enjoy the western way of life residing in the Colorado Rockies where inspiration comes every day!
